Book of the week: Not everyone knows, but Hunter S Thompson was also a talented photojournalist early in his career. This book, from the masters at Ammo Books, is big, bold and chock full of images (and words) from HST’s Air Force days in the mid 50s, his roaming journalism of the 60s, and all the big books and events of his career and life. “As things stand now, I am going to be a writer,” Thompson wrote to a friend in 1959. “I’m not sure that I’m going to be a good one or even s self-supporting one, but until the dark thumb of fate presses me into the dust and says, ‘you are nothing’, I will be a writer.”
