Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion
Book of the week. Joan Didion is enjoying a bit of a resurgence this year and for good reason, she’s the bee’s knees. This one is a collection of classic articles and personal essays from the 1960s. Joan writes with the confidence and flow of a master with a tight sense of humour that pays off huge when you catch it. This version of one of her better-known classics is a tiny edition about the same size as a smartphone that’s ideal for travel and summer reading (and it will make you smarter than your smartphone).
