The Case Against Sugar by Gary Taubs
Book of the week: This one is a bit of a tough read, partially cause there’s a fair bit of science and medical talk about the significant effects of sugar on our bodies (hint: that shit is not good for you) but even more so because it shines a light on just how conniving and insidious the sugar industry has been in trying to convince us otherwise. Big tobacco has nothing on these fuckers. Well-researched and objective, this is a must-read for anyone but especially parents. Sugar is, after all, the currency of childhood. (And it’s terrible for us, which is no surprise because it tastes too awesome to be true. Also, a pumpkin pie has like 3 cups of sugar in it. Faaaaaaccckkkkkk.)
