Trouble Is My Business by Raymond Chandler
Book of the week is some good old fashioned, hard boiled genre fiction. A scientist told me fiction is a good way to reboot the brain when it’s overloaded from trying to differentiate between fake news, real news, and dumb bullshit. Short stories from Chandler will always do the trick. This guy is the master of character and setting (his settings are characters) and he also wrote a kick-ass instructional book about how to write books (Rule #1: never start a book with the weather) that is also full of cool detective tips like you can always tell if a male corpse was left or right handed by which one of his sideburns is shaved a tiny bit shorter. Unless he has a beard, or was always shaved by a barber. Still though, pretty cool. Maybe i should have reviewed that book instead. It’s called Raymond Chandler’s Notebook.
